Since I'm not too thrilled with the recent play of the Detroit Tigers, I'm continuing on my quest to bring you all things Hot Baseball Wife related.
Yesterday, the amazing Dallas Latos was inducted into the Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame.
Today, I want to alert you to the noble and charitable efforts of another Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Famer - the beautiful Amanda McCarthy - wife of Oakland A's pitcher Brandon McCarthy.
The McCarthy's both went to Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The school is currently being used as a shelter for victims of the wildfires in Colorado.
The Waldo Canyon Fire has scorched 28 square miles, killed two and destroyed almost 350 homes. When Amanda learned about the devastation caused by the fires she spearheaded a silent auction and charity drive to raise funds to aid the victims. In a mere five days she used her excellent organizational skills to acquire an incredible array of sports memorabilia.
Last night, during the Athletics - Red Sox game, Amanda, Brandon and their group of volunteers raised over $10,000 to benefit the Pikes Peak Humane Society (animal shelters in the fire-affected area are full to the limit and desperately in need of funds) and the Red Cross chapter in Colorado Springs.
They are also holding an online auction in the near future.
Here's a link featuring video of Amanda during last night's fundraising efforts:
