R.A. Dickey brought his lunch bucket to work yesterday. The Jays knuckleball maestro pitched a complete game, 2-hit shutout to defeat the Rays 3-0.

Congratulations to the UCLA Bruins. UCLA defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs to win the College World Series Championship.

Troll So Hard: Brandon Inge cranked a 3-run dinger to help the Pirates defeat the Seattle Mariners 9 - 4.

Don't like this very much: After the Blue Jays second straight loss to the Rays, they sent Munenori Kawasaki back to Triple-A Buffalo to make room for Jose Reyes.

Max Scherzer is now 11 - 0.
Scherzer went 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks and fired 6 Ks to help the Tigers beat the Red Sox 10 - 3.
V-Mart smacked a 1st-inning grand slam to set the tone and Detroit never looked back.
Scherzer became the first pitcher to start 11-0 since Roger Clemens in 1997.

Jhonny Walkoff & Beach Booty

Red Sox closer Andrew Bailey took a page right out of the Jose Valverde instruction manual.
Boston had a 3-2 lead entering the bottom of the 9th, then Bailey walked Victor Martinez and, promptly, served-up a walkoff 2-run dinger to Jhonny Peralta.
Detroit won the first game of a 4-game series against the Red Sox.

The Big Potato gives Jhonny a celebratory shower while Shannon Hogan tries to get the heck out of the way...

The Tigers beat the Twins 5-2 on Sunday.
Torii Hunter blasted a 2-run homer, added a double and drove in 3 runs for Detroit.
Hunter's first career home run came with the Minnesota Twins, against Detroit, at Tiger Stadium. On Sunday, he hit his 300th jack - this time at Target Field, against the Twins, as a Detroit Tiger.

K-Counter Bobblehead & Instagram Goodness

The Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame loves baseball giveaways. So, obviously,
I was diggin' this week's 'Yu Darvish K-Counter Bobblehead' giveaway in Arlington.
Rangers fans began lining up 4 hours before the game - in the Texas heat - to acquire this beauty...

Darvish is on pace for a 300+ strikeout season.
In 95.1 innings Yu has fanned 127 batters.

D-Backs/Dodgers Brouhaha...Sarah Stage

That Dodgers - Diamondbacks rumble was pretty sweet.
Don Mattingly tossed Alan Trammell to the turf and Mark 'Juicebox' McGwire started chirpin' at Kirk Gibson. Gibby should've laid the beatdown on that douche.

Prince and Miggy are going to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated next week...

On Monday night, the Chicago Cubs were playing the Cincinatti Reds and the White Sox were playing the Toronto Blue Jays. It was kinda foggy in Chicago.

The Reds beat the Cubs 6-2. Across town the White Sox beat the Blue Jays 10-6 in a game delayed over an hour because of limited visibility.

The Tigers had a 1:08 PM start against the Rays today.
I love day games.
So, I left work at lunch and went to the ballpark.
It was well worth it. The Tigers beat the Rays 5-2. Max Scherzer pitched 7 solid innings. Scherzer's line for the afternoon: 4 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and 9 Ks.
The victory gave Max a record of 8-0.

I employed the smallenfreuden principle today while I was at the ballpark...

Yesterday was long-ball Saturday!
The Tigers beat the Orioles 10 - 3. Detroit scored 8 runs in the 4th inning.

Victor Martinez, Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila hit 3 consecutive jacks which were followed-up by a Miguel Cabrera grand slam. Prince Fielder added a homer in the 6th inning.

Even better - the Red Sox smoked the Yankees 11 - 1. 'Hacksaw' Mike Napoli hit a grand salami. Daniel Nava belted a 3-run dinger and Stephen Drew homered.

How do you like the batting stance of Coastal Carolina outfielder Alex Buccilli?
