HOF INDUCTION DAY...TIGERS IN 1ST...INGE GOES DEEP

Congratulations to Barry Larkin and the late, great Ron Santo who will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame today.
Also, congrats to Tim McCarver and Bob Elliott who were honoured on Saturday.
McCarver received the Ford C. Frick Award for his contributions in broadcasting.
If you're a Canuck, like me, you're probably familiar with Bob Elliot's excellent baseball writing. Elliott plies his trade at the Toronto Sun and received the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for sports writing.

The Detroit Tigers are in 1st place in the AL Central. Hooray!
Rick Porcello did his best Justin Verlander impression on Saturday.
Ricky went 8 innings, allowed 5 hits, 1 run, didn't walk a soul and fired
4 strikeouts.
Brennan Boesch hit a 3-run homer and Austin Jackson had 4 RBIs to help the Tigers whomp the White Sox 7-1.

Guys! Just as some douchebag Tweeted me about Inge being booed - as part of his justification for douchebags booing Ryan Raburn AT HOME - Brandon Inge walked to the plate in the 8th inning and went YARD on the first pitch from Phil Hughes to give the A's a 2-1 win over the New York Yankees.
Yoenis Cespedes also homered in the 4th inning.
A's starter Jarrod Parker went 8 innings, allowed 5 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and struck out 5 Yankees' hitters.
If you're keeping score at home, the A's have taken the first 3 games and can complete a 4-game sweep of the Yankees today.
The Athletics have won 13 of their last 15 to climb into a tie with the Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles for the final AL wild card spot.

Another pic I took a fancy to - Cintia Dicker in the Brazil edition of Status Magazine...
