Ok. Nice win by the Tigers today.
Not impressed by the Red Sox. They just got swept by the Oakland A's.
However, the Large Father did hit home run #400.
The Athletics have won 4 straight and sit one game below .500 in 3rd-place in the AL West.
Boy-oh-boy, Hot Baseball Wives are taking over the world!
So far, this week, Dallas Latos (wife of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mat Latos) has been inducted into the Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame, Amanda McCarthy (wife of Oakland A's pitcher Brandon McCarthy) has raised over $10,000 for the Pikes Peak Humane Society and the Red Cross chapter in Colorado Springs and - now - Kimberly DeJesus (wife of Chicago Cubs outfielder David DeJesus) is raising money to help find a cure for ALS.
If you're not familiar with ALS, its more common name is Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a motor neuron disease that causes degeneration throughout the brain and spinal cord. Ultimately, in the advanced stages, ALS affects speech, swallowing, chewing and breathing. When the breathing muscles become affected, ultimately, the patient will need permanent ventilatory support in order to survive. It is a horrible disease.
Kim DeJesus has a very good friend who suffers from ALS and she's doing everything she can to bring about a cure.
On Saturday, July 14th, during the Cubs - Diamondbacks game at Wrigley Field, Kimberly and David DeJesus are hosting an ALS Day/Mystery Ball Event to raise funds to help the ALS Association.
Here's the link with video: ALS DAY
ALS bracelets will be available for a small donation, David DeJesus will be signing at the Cubs Store after the game and Kim has some Mystery Balls to sell - all proceeds going to ALS...
So, baseball fans, get your butts down to Wrigley on July 14th. You don't even need a ticket to the game - the event will be at the main gate before the game.
As a bonus, you'll get to see Kim DeJesus at Wrigley...
****** Here is another link to send donations to assist the victims of the Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs, Colorado: The Oakland A's, along with Brandon and Amanda McCarthy, are collecting donations. ******
