GOOD LUCK, CASPER...VERLANDER VS WEAVER...JILTED BRIDE ROCKS THE DAISY DUKES

Angels' hurler Dan Haren did a job on the Detroit Tigers again.
Haren pitched a complete game, allowed 6 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
The Angels beat the Tigers 5-1.
Detroit's top prospect, Jacob Turner, was on the mound for the Tigers.
Turner's only 20-years-old, the 9th overall pick in the 2009 draft. He was thrown into the fire against Haren straight from the Double-A Erie SeaWolves.
Turner had a good game. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs, 3 walks and struck out 6 big league batters.
He needs to work on his running game. The Angels took advantage of a still-wet-behind-the-ears pitching prospect by stealing 5 bases!
Turner will now be promoted to the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens.

In a 6-player deal, the Tigers acquired starter Doug Fister and reliever David Pauley from the Mariners in exchange for pitcher Charlie Furbush, outfielder Casper Wells, minor league 3rd baseman Francisco Martinez and a player to be named later.

Arrivederci Mr. Wells. The HBWHOF is a fan! Good luck on the West Coast...

Today's Tigers vs Angels game is a Must-Watch cuz Jered Weaver(14-4) and Justin Verlander(14-5) are on the mound! A Cy Young Battle folks!! Tune-in
fo' sho'...

Jon Lester pitched 8 innings, gave up 4 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and notched 8 Ks to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 10-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Youkilis went YARD.
Thus ends the Red Sox' 7-game losing streak against the White Sox. Whew!

The Oakland A's beat the Minnesota Twins 8-3.
Scott Sizemore hit a 3-run double and Hideki Matsui went 2-for-3 and reached base 5 times.
Matsui is batting a major league-best .473 since the All-Star break.

I'M TIRED

Rick Porcello pitched a beauty of a game on Friday.
Porcello went 8 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs, NO walks and added 5 Ks.
The Tigers beat the Angels 12-2.
Carlos Guillen and Victor Martinez both had 4 RBIs and Brennan Boesch hit a solo homer.
Do you think these guys are happy to have Guillen back?

The Red Sox ALWAYS have trouble against the White Sox???
Tim Wakefield was shooting for win #200...but, NO, guess who messed it up? A.J. 'Douche' Pierzynski took a Wake knuckleball DEEP for a two-run homer!
Dustin Pedroia went 0-for-4 and his 25-game hitting streak was snapped.
Chicago beat Boston 3-1.
JERK...

Josh Willingham hit 2 home runs and racked-up 5 RBIs and Hideki Matsui went
3-for-4...but that was all the offence the Oakland A's could muster in a 9-5 loss to the Minnesota Twins.

I'm tired...and it's Saturday...and my dog woke me up too early...and I'm
sleep-deprived...and I need more vacation...and it's hot & humid...and I need more coffee...there's got to be an easier way to make a living...YESSSSSS!!

SANTANA'S NO-NO...A'S ON FIRE!!

The big news in baseball was Ervin Santana's no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians.
Santana no-hit the Tribe and added 10 strikeouts.
The Angels beat Cleveland 3-1.
The Indians scored their lone run in the 1st inning when Cleveland center fielder Ezequiel Carrera made it to first base after he hit a ground ball that glanced off the heel of shortstop Erick Aybar 's glove for an error. Carrera stole second, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.

Boston's bats are wicked! The Red Sox beat the Royals 12-5.
Jacoby Ellsbury and Dustin Pedroia homered and the Large Father hit a grand slam. Ortiz belted his 10th career slam - his 9th with the Red Sox - tying him with Rico Petrocelli for 2nd all-time in club history. Ted Williams(of course) leads the club with 17 grand salamis!

Max Sherzer pitched a good game for Detroit, but to no avail...the White Sox beat the Tigers 2-1.
Scherzer pitched 6 innings, gave up 6 hits, 2 runs, 4 walks and added 8 Ks.
The Detroit bats couldn't solve White Sox starter John Danks. Danks struck out 10 Tigers' batters. His lone mistake was serving-up a leadoff home run to Austin Jackson in the 7th inning.
The Baby-Faced Assassin sees A.J. Pierzynski...

THE OAKLAND A'S ARE ON FIRE!!!
Since the All-Star break, the A's are the hottest hitting team in baseball!
On Wednesday night, the A's beat the Rays 13-4.
Oakland scored 9 runs in the 4th inning. Hideki Matsui and Ryan Sweeney hit dingers.
The A's had a season-high 17 hits.
Matsui went 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs. Jemile Weeks went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Ryan Sweeney went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Scott Sizemore went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.
Since the All-Star break:
The A's are averaging 6 runs per game. They averaged 3.42 runs before the break.
The A's are hitting .321. They hit .233 before the break.

EVERYBODY WINS...CAPTAIN AMERICA'S HOT GF

What a great night for baseball!
Justin Verlander pitched 8 innings, gave up 7 hits, 4 runs, 1 walk and
fired 7 Ks.
The Tigers beat the White Sox 5-4.

If you're facing the Boston Red Sox, you'd better bring a BIG bullpen.
Monday night's Red Sox - Royals' game didn't end until the 14th inning at 1:59 AM.
The Royals employed 6 pitchers in Monday night's extra-inning game.
They used five more on Tuesday. KC had to use outfielder Mitch Maier to pitch the final inning!
Boston had 16 hits. Big Papi went 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs. The Red Sox beat the Royals 13-9.
Mitch Maier doesn't exactly look like Koufax out there...

Brandon McCarthy pitched a great game last night.
The Oakland A's right-hander pitched 8 innings, gave up 6 hits, 1 run, 2 walks and notched 3 Ks.

A's shortstop Cliff Pennington went 3-for-3 with an RBI double. Penny is batting a major-league-leading .500 since the All-Star break!
Oakland beat Tampa Bay 6-1

I went to see the new CAPTAIN AMERICA flick last night...AWESOME!!
Loved it - and the chick who played Steve Rogers love interest, Peggy Carter - English actress Hayley Atwell - was smokin' HOT...

A'S LOOKIN' GOOD...MORE COPA RACKAGE

It was another marathon night for the Boston Red Sox.
But this one ended in a loss.
After a pregame rain delay of 2 hours and 21 minutes, the Kansas City Royals won in the 14th inning 3-1.
The actual game lasted 4 hours and 28 minutes.
Dustin Pedroia singled in the 3rd inning to extend his hitting streak to 22 games.
Josh Bard pitched a scoreless 8th inning. He has not allowed an earned run in 25 innings.
Boston's in 1st place in the AL East with a 2 game lead over the Yankees.

The White Sox beat the Tigers 6-3.
Miguel Cabrera hit his 21st homer.
Paul Konerko and A.J. 'Douche' Pierzynski went YARD for Chicago.
Detroit's in 1st place in the AL Central with a 1 game lead over the Tribe.
I just like this photo...

Guess who has the best batting average in the majors after the All-Star game?
Nope, not the Red Sox. It's the Oakland Athletics!
The A's came back from a 3-run deficit to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-5 on Monday night.
Oakland have won 6 of their last 10 games .
Hideki Matsui was named AL Player of the Week earlier in the day.
Things are lookin' up...

WAKE, COCO & KATY

Only Timmy Wakefield could serve-up a Grand Slam and walk off the mound to a standing ovation! Wakefield pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowed 10 hits, 7 runs, 1 walk and got 4 Ks.
Yep, 7 runs! But, because he pitches for the Boston Red Sox, he got the win. His teammates put-up 17 hits and beat the Mariners 12-8.
Wakefield joined Roger Clemens as the only pitchers to strike out 2,000 batters with the Red Sox and moved one win away from his 200th victory...

The Tigers took 3-out-of-four from the Minnesota Twins.
Detroit beat Minnesota 5-2 on Sunday.
Rick Porcello got his 10th win. Porcello went 6 innings, allowed 5 hits, 2 runs,
2 walks and added 4 Ks.

The Yankees beat the Athletics 7-5.
Hideki Matsui LIKES playing in front of those New York fans!
On Sunday, Matsui went 5-for-5 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI.
Curtis Granderson smacked his 27th homer this season.
Mariano Rivera reached 25 saves for the 15th consecutive season - he holds the major league record.

I'm sure you've noticed that I've been following the Oakland Athletics for a couple weeks now. A trio of Hot Baseball Wives led me here - Amanda McCarthy, Kim DeJesus and Brooke Sizemore. All HOT. All nice. A close knit little group who support their baseball-playing hubbies. Plus, the MONEYBALL movie is coming-out in September - telling the story of A's VP & GM Billy Beane. So, I'm kinda jazzed about all things A's these days. That's why I'm, once again, following the entertaining Coco Crisp.
I loved the Coco-Man when he was in the outfield for the Red Sox! One of my favourite CoCo-Moments was when the Red Sox got into a bench-clearing brawl with the Rays and Coco went all MATRIX-like on a wild James Shields roundhouse...

Then, earlier this season, Coco became the Second Coming of Oscar Gamble with his sweet 'Fro...

Then, this past weekend, the announcers spent an inordinate amount of time concentrating on the piercing-within-a-tatoo that Coco's rockin' on his neck...

Ah, Coco, you're ALWAYS entertaining!

So, Katy Perry is the voice of Smurfette in The Smurfs movie. This chick is exposing a whole new audience to beloved childhood characters...
