I'm back from Chicago. Had a blast! Love that town.
The Cubs swept their 3-game series against the D-backs.
The Cubbies have won 12 of their last 16 games since June 25. The best record in baseball over that span. Chicago outscored Arizona 15-3 in the series.
Despite their recent success, rumours are rampant that the team will be ravaged by trades.
There are some great, young players on this team: Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo and Darwin Barney have mad skills. Theo Epstein is probably sticking with a total rebuild of young players.
The rumour mill is swirling around pitchers Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza.
Now that I'm back home at the friendly confines of the HBWHOF, I can get back to some American League baseball.
The Tigers took 2-out-of-3 from the Baltimore Orioles.
Justin Verlander pitched 8 shutout innings, allowed 3 hits, 2 walks and notched
8 Ks.
Austin Jackson and Miguel Cabrera homered and Detroit beat Baltimore 4-0.
It was Verlander's 117th win for the Tigers, tying him with Denny McLain for 13th on the team career list. Hooks Dauss is the Tigers' career wins leader with 223 victories.
