SCHERZER & PINDER - IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!

Max Scherzer is 17-1.
Do you know how many other hurlers have racked-up a similar win-loss record?
In the history of baseball, only TWO starters have ever finished a season with at least 15 wins against a single loss: Scherzer and Cleveland pitcher Johnny Allen - who went 15-1 for the Indians in 1937. A third pitcher, Roy Face, went 18-1 in relief for the 1959 Pittsburgh Pirates.
That, my friends, is BADASS!!!!

Here's some new Lucy Pinder...

TIGERS WIN BIG FOR CHRISTMAS IN JULY

With the impending suspension of Jhonny Peralta hanging over their heads, the Detroit Tigers celebrated 'Christmas in July' by kicking the Washington Nationals' collective asses.
Justin Verlander played the role of Ebenezer Scrooge - pitching 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, 5 walks and striking out 6 Nats.
He had plenty of run support too. With Miggy out of the lineup the Tigers gave JV the gift of 15 hits!
And - get this - 11 of those hits, along with 10 runs, were elicited from Gio Gonzalez over 3 1/3 innings!!!
Alex Avila and Torii Hunter hit dingers. Hunter was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs.

High Fives all-around as JV appreciates the effort of Torii Hunter...

...And Max Scherzer goes high with JV...

Ahh...Christmas in July...Detroit-style...
