Guess what I'm doing tomorrow?
Let me fill you in...I'm going to Opening Day at The Copa!
The Boston Red Sox are in town to play the Tigers.
Jon Lester vs Justin Verlander - an instant classic.
CAN...NOT...WAIT...
The Detroit Tigers look like they're ready to rock.
The Red Sox, on the other hand, have encountered some thumb problems.
Both Josh Beckett and, brand spankin' new closer, Andrew Bailey travelled to Cleveland to see Dr. Thomas Graham regarding their respective thumb injuries. Beckett was deemed OK and remains scheduled to start Saturday at Detroit against Doug Fister. Bailey was diagnosed as needing an operation to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament. He is scheduled to have surgery today.
After Jonathan Papelbon signed with the Phillies, Boston acquired Andrew Bailey from Oakland as his replacement.
Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said that Bailey probably wouldn't return until after the All-Star Game.
Boston is caught scrambling for a closer - the leading candidates are Alfredo Aceves and Mark Melancon.
Andrew Bailey
