Happy Easter!
Saturday was a day of mixed emotions for the HBWHOF.
I've liked the Red Sox and Tigers since I was a wee lad. I am a rabid Tigers fan - unless they play my beloved Red Sox - in which case I root for the boys from Boston.
So, yesterday, on a perfect baseball day, under blue skies, I watched Josh Beckett and the Red Sox get lit-up like the 4th of July.
It was NOT a good day for a Boston fan.
On the plus side - the Tigers look WICKED-GOOD!
The 2012 version of the Motown Mashers decided to freakin' MASH...
Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera blasted two dingers apiece and Alex Avila added another - all off Josh Beckett!
The Tigers absolutely HAMMERED the Red Sox 10-0.
Josh Beckett was the victim of a blitzkrieg! Beckett's pitching line for the afternoon: 4.2 innings pitched, 7 hits, 7 runs, 1 walk, 3 Ks, 5 homers served-up and a sparkling 13.50 ERA.
Doug Fister lasted 3.2 innings, gave up 3 hits, 1 walk and 3 Ks before leaving with a strained side. Fister has been placed on the 15-day DL.
The Tigers hosted a sellout crowd of 44,710 for the second game of the season.
Tigers fans were, obviously, ecstatic.
Here's the DTE Energy Squad...
The HBWHOF crew watched the final inning from the cozy confines of the Champions Club...
