Opening Day in the 'D'
The Tigers started the 2012 season by putting up a 'W'
For most of the game it was two hitting lineups trying to solve two great pitchers.
Jon Lester pitched 7 innings, allowed 6 hits, 1 run, 3 walks and struck out 4 batters. Justin Verlander pitched 8 innings, allowed 2 hits, NO runs, 1 walk and struck out 7.
Verlander left the game with a 2-0 lead. Jose Valverde blew his first save in 52 chances by allowing 2 runs to tie the game in the ninth. It was the Big Potato's first blown save since Sept. 2, 2010 against Minnesota.
Austin Jackson went 3-for-5 including the game-winning, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth.
The Tigers beat the Red Sox 3-2.
This was a pleasing sight...
