VERLANDER WAS SCARY-GOOD!

Cincinnati Reds pitcher Johnny Vander Meer threw back-to-back no-hitters back in 1938.

Justin Verlander came close to tying Vander Meer's feat. The Tigers' ace served-up 14 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball, broken-up by a Melky Cabrera triple with two outs in the sixth inning. Verlander went 8 innings, allowed only 2 hits and struck-out 7 KC batters.
The Tigers have won six straight games. V-Mart extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
Today: Brad Penny vs Jeff Francis at 4:10 PM.
