TWO-GAME SWEEP

The Red Sox beat the Tigers 4-3 and won their 6th straight game,
Verlander went 8 innings, allowed 6 hits, fired 9 Ks and gave-up 3 runs - two were homers by J.D. Drew and David Ortiz.
Beckett went 6 innings, allowed 5 hits, notched 3 Ks and allowed 1 run before leaving with stiffness in his neck. Hard-throwing Daniel Bard came-in and, promptly, served-up back-to-back homers to Brennan Boesch and Miguel Cabrera in the 8th.
Carl Crawford hit a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 9th to win the game.
The Tigers have problems. They stranded 10 runners and Detroit's bullpen has the worst ERA in the AL at 5.61.
Interleague play starts today. Detroit visits Pittsburgh to play a 3-game series against the Pirates.
The Red Sox host a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs in the first meeting between the two teams at Fenway since the 1918 World Series!
