The Red Sox didn't check-in to their hotel in Baltimore until 6:30 AM, after their 16-inning victory in Tampa Bay finished at 2 AM Monday.
They still managed to beat the Orioles 15-10.
Tim Wakefield had one of those nights when his knuckleball looks more like a beachball than a butterfly! Wake lasted just 4 2/3 innings, gave up 9 hits, 7 runs(only 3 earned runs), 2 walks and notched 3 strikeouts.
Wakefield has 1,996 strikeouts in a Boston uniform. Roger Clemens is the only player to have 2,000 strikeouts with the Red Sox. Clemens sits at 2590 Ks.
Josh Reddick and Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit homers.
Kevin Youkilis, Darnell McDonald and Dustin Pedroia had 3 RBIs apiece.
Carl Crawford came off the 15-day disabled list and went 2 for 5 with 1 RBI.
The Oakland A's are in Motown to play a 2-game series against the Tigers.
Guillermo Moscoso takes the mound against Rick Porcello.
The Tigers need to kick it into another gear...Detroit hasn't posted an above .500 record after the All-Star break since 2000.
This series is THE RETURN OF SCOTT SIZEMORE!
Remember, back in May, Dave Dombrowski traded Sizemore to the A's for pitcher David Purcey.
Oakland moved Sizemore from his accustomed 2nd base position to play 3rd.
I always liked Scotty. The guy moved from the Class A West Michigan Whitecaps...to the Class Adv A Lakeland Flying Tigers...to the AA Erie SeaWolves...to the AAA Toledo Mud Hens...went up & down with the Tigers...got traded to the A's...got sent down to the AAA Sacramento River Cats...and now he's playing 3rd base for the big club.
He's hitting .249 with 4 homeruns and 19 RBIs.
I WANT this dude to make it in the majors.
Scott Sizemore wins the 2nd game of Saturday's doubleheader, against the Angels, with a 10th inning single...
Scott and his Hot Baseball Wife - Brooke...
Ryan Perry's girlfriend - Vanessa Palestino & Brooke Sizemore...
