A GREAT DAY - EXCEPT FOR THE SCORE

Other than the final result, Thursday was an awesome day in Detroit.
The HBWHOF had an 11 AM reservation in the Tiger Club to start my day.
My intention was to fill my belly before watching the Tigers complete a sweep of the Athletics.
I did fill my belly...

The Copa KNOWS how to do it up right. The spread they lay-out upstairs is magnificent.
This, my friends, is the Bloody Mary/Caesar Bar that greets you upon entering the joint...

BP was cancelled for both teams because of the rain but, while we were eating, the sun came out and the tarp came off the field.

This was the concoction that Jenny threw together from that bad-boy of a vodka station...

So, we indulged in all the goodness in the Tiger Club - everything from sushi to coney dogs - then went to our seats at gametime. As soon as we got out of the elevator we ran into Paws...

But, heck, enough about us - the afternoon turned out to be beautiful...

The Tigers took an early 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the A's had no desire to leave Motown without a win and the Tigers seemed more than willing to help them out.
Omar Infante made a throwing error that led to Oakland's first run. Avisail Garcia missed a cutoff man, which led to Oakland’s second run. Austin Jackson misjudged a George Kottaras frozen rope to center field which got by him and opened the floodgates for the Oakland offence. The Athletics had 12 hits and beat the Tigers 12-4.
A's left fielder Seth Smith homered, doubled and had 4 RBIs.
Oakland pitching held Miguel Cabrera to a single in four at-bats.
Andy Dirks homered for Detroit.
Luckily, the Royals beat the White Sox 4-3, keeping Chicago's lead in the AL Central to 2 games over Detroit.

I said goodbye to Hammerin' Hank and called it a day...
