HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!

Max Scherzer enjoyed a bit of a lopsided victory for his birthday on Saturday.
Scherzer had so much run support he only had to toss 6 innings - 75 pitches - that resulted in 1 hit and 7 Ks in a 10-0 Tigers victory over the Phillies.
Scherzer is now 15-1.
Miggy cranked his 32nd homer and Matt Tuiasosopo launched a 3-run laser into the centerfield ivy.

After a 47-minute rain delay - a rainbow appeared over The Copa...

In honour of Scherzer's birthday...

RED SOX WIN A MARATHON...MARISA'S STILL GOT IT

Sunday night's Red Sox - Yankees game lasted 4 hours and 46 minutes.
It ended at 12:53 a.m. Monday with a "Hacksaw" Mike Napoli homer in the 11th inning.

Napoli hit 2 dingers and 4 RBIs and Boston took 2-out-of-3 from New York.
The Red Sox are 60-40 through their first 100 games, 1 1/2 games in front of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.

Marisa Miller showed-up at the 2013 ESPY Awards and she's still got it...

Probably my favourite Marisa Miller pic of All-Time...

DETROIT'S REDEEMER

Remember, after Mariano Rivera shutdown the NL and left the field in the
All-Star Game?
Remember, Justin Verlander burst out of the dugout to be the first to greet him...hoping some of Mo's magic might rub-off on him?
Well, it didn't.
Verlander lost to the KC Royals on Saturday night. He lasted 5 2/3 innings, allowed 8 hits, 6 runs, 4 walks, 3 Ks and served-up a game-winning dinger to Mike Moustakas.

This is your ACE Tigers' fans. This is your redeemer.

Grillied Cheese & Cherries

Look, kids, it's All-Star closer Jason Grilli who leads the National League with
29 saves.
Grillied Cheese and Brandon Inge are gonna troll the Tigers in the post-season.

One of the best things about summer is that all the local produce is in season. The corn-on-the-cob is off the charts and the cherries...I can't even...

The LAST #42.
3 outs on 16 cutters.

Rivera is 43 years old.
He became the oldest All-Star since Carlton Fisk in 1991 and the oldest pitcher since 47-year-old Satchel Paige 60 years ago, according to STATS.
The American League won 3-0 and retained home-field advantage in the World Series.

Ahh summer...

HOME RUN DERBY CHAMP

BOOM!!!!
The cat left out of the All-Star Game won the whole enchilada!
Yoenis Cespedes won the Home Run Derby on Monday night, becoming the first player left out of the All-Star game to take home the crown.

Cespedes cranked 17 homers in the 1st round. This sent him directly to the finals, however, he smacked another 6 dingers in Round 2 to add to the American League total.
Cespedes, then, faced Bryce Harper in the final. He beat Harper 9-8 to capture the title.
The Oakland A's wunkerkind belted his 32nd, and final, homer 455 feet off the wall in center field...

Miggy & Prince's son chillin' at the Home Run Derby...

A little summer booty for a hot week in July...

SUNDAYS WITH JUSTIN VERLANDER

The Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame attended Sunday's Tigers vs Rangers game at Comerica Park.

Before the game, Miguel Cabrera, Max Scherzer, Jhonny Peralta, Torii Hunter and Prince Fielder received their All-Star jerseys...

Justin Verlander went 6 2/3 No-hit innings until Mitch Moreland hit a two-out double.
JV's line: 7 innings pitched, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 walks and 3 Ks.
It was also Justin Verlander Mini-Bobblehead Day...

Torii, V-Mart and Peralta all went YARD and Detroit beat Texas 5-0.

It was a beautiful day. Scoreboard temperature registered 85 degrees. Had a nice sausage smothered in fried onions...

Then I brought the kiddies home to hop in the pool and I boiled-up some Peaches & Cream sweet corn under the watchful eye of Justin Verlander...

TIMMY'S 148-PITCH NO-NO...HYDRATION

It's always great to see someone who has been struggling end up with great success.
So, I truly enjoyed what happened to Tim Lincecum on Saturday night.
Timmy threw an incredible 148 pitches over 9 innings to get his 1st career
No-Hitter.
Lincecum's line: 9 innings, 0 hits, 0 runs, 4 walks and 13 Ks.
