COLON SHUTOUT & PICNIC TABLE GOODNESS

OMG!
In a rain-shortened 7 inning affair, the Oakland A's CRUSHED the Red Sox 13-0!
The saddest part - Bartolo Colon was on the hill for the entire game. He allowed 3 hits, 1 walk and fired 7 Ks!!
Perhaps even sadder - The A's started 5 former Red Sox players - CF Coco Crisp, SS Jed Lowrie, 1B Brandon Moss, RF Josh Reddick and Big Boy Bartolo Colon.

More British goodness. Kelly Brook Instagrammed this pic from her 2001 calendar...
Ever wish you were a picnic table?

TROUT IS THE NEW MICK...RAE

Wow! The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of Orange County of California of the Pacific Rim just laid a job on the Detroit Tigers!
A three-game sweep. 8-1. 10-0. And 4-3 -n a 13-inning finale.
Mike Trout had 15 at-bats vs Detroit pitching. He had 5 hits. 1 homer. 6 RBIs.
2 stolen bases. He hit his first career grand slam in Saturday's 10-0 romp of the Tigers.
I've mentioned this before but, when I watch this cat rounding the bases, he reminds me of the film footage of Mickey Mantle back when The Mick had wheels. This kid is a ballplayer.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR - GO SEE 42

The HBWHOF has loved baseball since the day I took my first breath. If you love baseball, you love Jackie Robinson. I LOVE Jackie Robinson.
Over the years I have read countless books and articles about Jackie Robinson and, armed with all this biographical information, I was skeptical about the film '42.'
I was wondering if the filmmakers would do Robinson's story justice.
They did.
The movie is fantastic and should garner, at least, a couple Oscar nominations.
Chadwick Boseman is amazing as Jackie Robinson. Harrison Ford transforms into the perfect Branch Rickey. Nicole Beharie runs the gamut of emotions as Rachel Robinson. I enjoyed Christopher Meloni as Leo Durocher too.
Do yourself a favour - if you love baseball, if you love movies, if you love justice, if you admire bravery - go see this movie.

Monday, April 15th is Jackie Robinson Day. As you know, every MLB player will wear Robinson's #42 - the ONLY uniform number retired across baseball.
The Dodgers are celebrating Jackie with this sweet bobblehead giveaway - Jackie Robinson, Don Newcombe, & Roy Campanella...

I was also captivated by the beauty of Nicole Beharie as Rachel Robinson...

THIS SEASON IS GETTING OFF TO A GREAT START

Boy, oh boy, the 2013 baseball season is kicking into high gear! Over the past two days I have seen:
1) The San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers get into a bench-clearing brawl
2) The New York Yankees turn a triple play
3) Jose Reyes mess-up his ankle on a short slide into 2nd base
4) A Kansas City ball boy narrowly miss getting mowed down after attempting to catch a foul ball that was easily catchable for Blue Jays outfielder Rajai Davis

I enjoyed the whole Padres-Dodgers brouhaha.
Padres slugger Carlos Quentin rushed the mound and wrestled Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke to the ground after getting hit by a pitch Thursday night, leading to a benches-clearing brawl between the teams that left Greinke with a broken left collarbone.

The Dodgers signed Greinke to a $147 million, 6-year contract during the off season. He could now miss up to 2 months with the broken collarbone.
As for Carlos Quentin, he's known to crowd the plate. Quentin led the majors in hit by pitches in both 2011 (23) and 2012 (17). He's been hit 116 times in his career.
After the teams started clearing the field, Jerry Hairston Jr. came running across the field yelling and pointing at someone in the San Diego dugout and had to be restrained. The player was later identified as Padres reserve John Baker. "Obviously Zack was hurt and one guy over there was chirping, making fun of him. I asked him to meet me halfway. He didn't" said Hairston.
After the game, Matt Kemp confronted Quentin as the two players were leaving Petco Park. Kemp walked up to Quentin near the players' exit, and the two went nose-to-nose. Padres pitcher Clayton Richard separated them, and security and police quickly broke it up.

Carlos Quentin received an 8-game suspension and is appealing.
Jerry Hairston received a 1-game suspension and is also appealing.
Quentin shouldn't have charged the mound. It was a 3-2 count and there was no intent on the pitch. The Dodgers won the game 3-2. The two teams face off for a 3-game series beginning Monday.

The St. Louis Cardinals are using these baseballs to honour Stan 'The Man' Musial...

I NEED to go see this...

GOAT'S HEAD ON WAVELAND & SIMBA IS A PLAYA

So, what do you think of the latest installment of the 'Billy Goat Curse'?
A guy drives up to the Wrigley Field security entrance on Waveland Avenue, drops off a box and drives away. Security workers open the box, which is addressed to Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, and discover the severed head of a goat.

I'm sure all the Hot Baseball Wife Hall of Fame readers are familiar with the Cubbies and their 'Billy Goat Curse' but I'll provide the details for those who don't know the story: During the 1945 World Series, between the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers, a tavern owner named William “Billy Goat” Sianis tried to bring a goat to a World Series game, but was told his goat — which had a ticket — smelled too bad to be admitted. Sianis angrily put a curse on the team and since then, the Cubs haven’t been back to the World Series. Add to all this the fact that Cubs owner Ricketts has been negotiating a $300 million renovation of Chicago's beloved Wrigley Field which has angered many fans.

Anyone who knows me knows that I have a special place in my heart for blondes and dogs. Here's one of my favourite women on the planet (Surprise - she's British) - Staci Ann Noblett and her dog, Simba...

Simba has to be the luckiest dog ever. Here is with India Reynolds & Rosie Jones...

LONG RAIN DELAY IN THE 'D'...HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLARE RICHARDS!

It's 7:10 PM and I'm watching Prince Fielder bat in the bottom of the 9th in a game that was supposed to start at 1:08 PM. The game was delayed by rain and the first pitch wasn't thrown until 3:35 PM.
The Copa is mostly empty with pockets of cold, wet fans here and there, scattered throughout the ballpark.
The Tigers just came up empty. The Blue Jays beat the Tigers 8-6.

For sitting in the rain for 7 or 8 hours fans in Detroit received this Miguel Cabrera mini bobblehead...

More goodness from across the pond!

BABY BLING..PASCAL CRAYMER..ELLIS COOPER

Call me sappy - but I'm a dad - and I really like this photo. San Francisco Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford posted this pic on Twitter of his 4-month old daughter, Braylyn, wearing his World Series Championship ring...

After much soul searching I have come to the conclusion that there is something in the tap water in England that results in incredibly hot women with magnificent bodies. Here are my two newest finds...
